This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to add recovery options to your Google Play developer account.
If you're still unable to validate your credentials after finishing the steps in this article, please try the option of authorising a new user to your Google Play developer account.
Why are recovery options required?
AppMachine's publishing process is designed to submit your app to the Google Play Store for you. In order to do this, access to the Google Play developer account is required. In some cases additional verification is required in order to access the account. E.g. because our software signs in to your account from a location which differs from your day-to-day usage. In Google's eyes this is flagged as suspicious, and additional login verification is required to gain access to the account.
There are a number of options which Google uses to recover your account, like a Secret Question, entering a Recovery Email Address, or entering a Recovery Phone Number to name a few. The options which our system is familiar with are:
- Recovery Email Address.
- Recovery Phone Number.
If neither of these options are configured on your Google Play developer account, our system will display the following error message when attempting to validate your Google Play developer credentials:

- Logout of all Google services.
- Navigate to https://myaccount.google.com/security and login with your Google Play developer credentials.
- On the Security page, you will find a section called 'Ways we can verify it's you'.
- In this section you'll find the options to add a:
- Recovery phone.
- Recovery email. - Add at least one of these options to your account.
After successfully adding a recovery option to your Google Play developer account, navigate back to https://design.appmachine.com/ to publish your app.
