Our March 2017 designer build will offer you the option to include AdMob ads in your app. You can add banners (top or bottom) or interstitial (between lists of content) ads to your app.
Here is what you need to do in order to set up ads on our platform:
- Create an account on AdMob
- Set up your AD units for Android and/or iOS
- Activate ads in your app
- Publish the app
1. Create an account on AdMob
If you don't have an AdMob account already, then you can create one at https://www.google.com/admob/ by using a Google account of your own choice. You could use your Google Play Developer account, personal Google account or create a new one for this purpose.
AdMob requires your Google account to be enabled for Adsense and Adwords otherwise creating an AdMob account will not be possible. Check the FAQ on AdMob here
2. Set up your AD units for Android and/or iOS
Once you've created the AdMob account, we can go ahead setting up our first ad units.
Click on "Monetise" and create new apps for Google and Apple.
If you already have an app in the store, then you can use the store links in the tab 'search for your app' to identify your app. If you use the store links then you can have an extra advantage of using analytics in the AdMob dashboard.
If you don't have an app in the store or you don't want to link to the app stores, then you can create new apps manually. Create an app name and select the correct platform.
When you've created your apps for iOS and Android, then you can create ad units for both platforms.
Create a new ad unit and make a choice between a banner or an Interstitial ad. AppMachine doesn't support 'Rewarded videos' or 'Native' ads.
A banner will show ads on the top or bottom in your app and an interstitial ad will show a full screen ad.
You need to make some settings such as the refresh rate of the ads in the banner or the frequency for Interstitial ads in the app. You don't want the user experience to drop down all the way because you show an ad every 10 seconds.

After creating the ad units you will create ad units. The ad unit ids will be used in AppMachine in order to generate ads in your app.
You don't have to download SDKs or perform any other implementation tricks to show ads. We've already done the technical work.
3. Now you have generated your ad units and you can start setting up you AppMachine app.
Go to design.appmachine.com, open your app and select the "Monetize" section in the left vertical menu
Select "AdMob" in the network dropdown menu
Select the correct slot option (banner top, banner bottom or interstitial) for Android and iOS
Fill in the matching unit id from AdMob in the key fields and hit the save button.
4. Your app is now ready to get published with AdMob ad support. All you need now is a new store version in order to make sure these changes update the live app as well or publish the app for the first time to the store.
Adding AdMob in your app will trigger a store update as soon as you hit the update button
If you want to change the banner bottom to banner top or vice versa, then this change will be sent to the app with a content update.
If you want to change the ad type from banner to interstitial and vice versa, then you will need to change the unit ids and send a content update as well.
Removing ad support in the "Monetize" section will also require a store update in order to update the live app.
Please note that integrating AdMob will make the app incompatible with Android devices below OS version 5.
